RKKKC's Charity Food & Fun Fair

Date : 25 June 2006
Venue : Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Negeri Perak, Batu Gajah, Perak, Malaysia
Organizer : Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Negeri Perak, Batu Gajah

(PS: RKKKC stands for Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Cacat, which means Handicap Children's Welfare Home)

We reached the place at around 10am, and there were already many visitors in the charity fun fair. I think we missed the opening ceremony and the Chinese lion dance at the beginning. They held the fun fair in the car park in front of the house, and outside the house there were some booths promoting anti-smoking campagin etc.

Near the entrance there was a counter where visitors could purchase coupons. Coupons were used for buying food, drinks and other items in the fun fair. All the money that obtained from the coupon purchase will be used for maintaining the running of the charity home. The day was very hot but that didn't prevent people from coming to support this charity fun fair. There were so many visitors enjoying themselves in the fun fair, and Yang Bahagia Datuk Ong Ka Chuan who was invited to inaugurate the fun fair had also spent some time to visit each booth there.RKKKC Charity Fun Fair.

There were so many booths selling various kind of food and drinks, vegetables and shirts etc. Game booths were probably the most popular booths as there were always a lot of visitors surrounding the booths most of the time. Not only the visitors outside, the members of St.John, girlscouts and boyscouts were also there to volunteer in the event.

RKKKC Charity Fun FairWe walked around the whole building and Kenny had took a lot of good pictures. Disabled children and adults were inside the building watching TV, lying down on the bed or just walking around. Some kids were locked in a small area that looked like a cage because they have mentality problem and are hard to control at times. Most children there were quiet, friendly, and looked a bit nervous and curious when they saw a lot of people came to visit there. Some volunteers were there feeding some disabled kids, while some visitors there were taking pictures and/or talking to some other disabled kids or adults.

We didn't get to meet the persons in charge because they were too busy for the fun fair. We stayed there for several hours and left in the afternoon.
